In 1974, the 29th UN General Assembly, witnessed a historic and powerful speech — on the need for non-violent and peaceful politics — that still bears remedy to the current state of chaos and conflict ravaging countries and taking a devastating toll on millions of lives. It was the brightest moment for Bangladesh on the global stage, within years of its independence.

Before an assembly attended by as many as 138 leaders, the impact of a newly formed nation was on full display, thanks to the call for the greater humanitarian cause by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Now five decades down the line, that message of global peace, humanity and freedom resonates in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi 32 as Center for Research and Information (CRI) has rolled out an exciting and profound exhibition themed on the relevance of the speech.

As a tribute to the Father of the Nation on his birth anniversary, CRI’s month-long exhibition drew a gathering of a diverse group.

Lawmaker Nahim Razzaq and several members of CRI team alongside family members of martyred intellectuals inaugurated the event.

A series of colorful, symbolic and meaningful artwork, prepared by 12 promising artists, revives those moments of national pride and glory through photographs and creative artworks.

A seventh grader, after inspecting the exhibition, said, “This is a unique tribute to bring alive the brightest moments from the past that shaped our identity; such initiatives can connect us to moments of glory and struggles not often projected everywhere.”

As it is being held in close proximity to the official residence of the Father of the Nation, the exhibition saw an outpouring of people from different segments.

CRI has produced a series of first of its kind initiatives in the country to revive historic moments in the most interactive way, introducing the “Mujib” graphic novel, based on the autobiography of the Father of the Nation.

The exhibition features works by young artists Sabiah Haque, Suhas Nahian, Mitali Ray, Arafat Karim, Sayed Fida Hossain, Anannya Mehpar Azad, AKM Saleh Ahmed Anik, Auntora Mehrukh Azad, Suvro Das, Reesham Shahab Tritho, Suborna Morshed and Apon Jowarder.

Radwan Mujib Siddiq, trustee of Center for Research and Information, in a Facebook post, shared images of the launching event in the morning with the caption: “Go check it out, you won’t be disappointed”.

In a post CRI wrote: “The public art exhibition 'The Fearless Call 3' features unique artworks by 12 young talented artists from diverse genres. They drew inspirations from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's landmark speech at the UN on 25 September,1974.”

The event has seen participation of people from different professions and walks of life and the number of visitors are expected to grow like the past ones.
