A solo art exhibition titled ‘She, the Universe: The Infinity Within Her’ by renowned Bangladeshi artist Liton Kar has commenced at La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD), offering an introspective and poetic visual journey into femininity, memory, and metaphysical presence.

The opening ceremony, held at the gallery, was joined by Ekushey Padak-winning eminent artist-educator Prof Farida Zaman, alongside Mahia Juned, Additional Managing Director and CFO of City Bank PLC; Mahrukh Mohiuddin, Managing Director of University Press Limited; and mountaineer Nishat Majumdar as special guests.

Featuring 25 large-scale oil paintings, the exhibition showcases women not just as subjects, but as elemental forces—rooted in nature, dreams, and ancestral memory. The works reflect Liton Kar’s signature style that merges surrealism with grounded intimacy, interweaving symbolism, storytelling, and socio-cultural commentary.

Known for his engagement with theater and activism, Liton’s canvases portray feminine energy as both personal icons and universal archetypes, radiating resilience, grace, and cosmic strength.

As a special highlight of the exhibition, 'ICU (I See You)'—Liton Kar’s internationally acclaimed short film—was screened on the opening day at 5:30 pm. The film, which has received international accolades, will also be screened again on the closing day at the same time.

Additionally, the band Post Office Society will perform live on Saturday, July 19 at 7 pm, to deliver a multisensory experience that blends music with visual art as part of the exhibition’s cultural segment.

Born in 1974 in Chattogram, Liton Kar is a veteran visual artist with over three decades of experience. A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Chittagong, he has been active in community-based art, theater, and design.

In 1996, he founded the creative agencies ‘Shade and Italic’, and his short film ICU (I See You) gained international recognition in 2022.

The exhibition will remain open to all visitors until Saturday, July 26. Visiting hours are from Monday to Friday, 3-9 pm (except for Sundays).
