The nomination papers of 25 candidates for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections in Jhalokathi’s two constituencies have been scrutinized, resulting in 13 valid, 8 rejected, and 4 suspended nominations.
The announcement was made Saturday afternoon by the district Returning Officer Momin Uddin.
The cancellations were due to issues including loan default, incomplete affidavits, inaccuracies in one percent voter support, and missing documents.
In Jhalokathi-1 (Rajapur-Kathalia), 15 candidates submitted nominations. Eight papers were declared valid, including BNP’s Rafiqul Islam Jamal, NCP’s Mahmuda Alam Mitu, Islamic Movement Bangladesh’s Ibrahim Al Hadi, Jatiya Party’s Kamruzzaman, and Jatiya Janata Party’s Md. Jasim Uddin Talukder.
Five nominations were rejected, including BNP-supported independent M. Moin Alam Firozi due to BDT 10 lacs tax default, and other papers due to missing signatures or inaccuracies. Two nominations were suspended.
