Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud has said that the recent statement of Amnesty International about Bangladesh was part of a conspiracy.
He said this while addressing a discussion titled '74 years' Glory, Heritage, Struggle and Success' marking the 74th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League at Bangabandhu Hall in Chattogram Press Club on Saturday evening.
MA Salam, president of Chattogram North District Awami League, presided over the meeting.

The minister said, "We saw in the newspaper today that Amnesty International has made a statement - those who will work in RAB or if anyone is associated with human rights violations in our country should be screened and not to deploy them on United Nations peacekeeping missions."
He said, "We know Amnesty very well. It made a statement calling for an end to the prosecution of war criminals when the trial began. When BNP-Jamaat was burning people to death in 2013, 14 and 15, it did not make any statement against it."
Hasan said everyone knows how the statements of Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch are made, where those are drafted and what they get in exchange for their statements.

"Those who made statements to defend war criminals, they remained silent when Israeli forces hunted people like birds in Palestine. So they do not have any moral right to make statements about these things," he said.
The information minister said the conspirators of the country have joined with the two organizations.
"So, we must be careful about them. These statements have no value, so there is no need to get confused by them,” he urged.
“For this, lobbyists have been appointed against the country on behalf of BNP-Jamaat. As part of the conspiracy, they have bought a few statements and letters of some congressmen or European parliament members through spending millions of dollars,” he added.
