BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan has said that maintaining law and order and controlling commodity prices will remain impossible as long as the allies of the autocrat continue to hold positions in the administration.
“Although fascism has fallen, democracy is yet to be fully established in the country,” he said while addressing a rally at Sirajganj Islamia Government College ground on Wednesday afternoon.
Nazrul Islam Khan noted that the rally was part of BNP’s nationwide eight-day demonstration programme, which demands the regulation of essential commodity prices at a tolerable level, improvements in law and order, the quick announcement of an election roadmap, and resistance against conspiracies by the fallen fascist regime.
He highlighted that the authoritarian rule was toppled through the July-August revolution. “An interim government has been entrusted with the responsibility of fulfilling the people’s aspirations,” he said.

Emphasising that none of the interim government members assumed office by force, he said, “A government elected by the people is essential for real change. BNP seeks a fair and inclusive election at the earliest possible time.”
He urged the party leaders to earn people's trust and stand by their side, and warned that those who exploit people for personal gain will have no place in the party.
