Nurul Haque Noor was elected president of Gono Odhikar Parishad at the party’s national council.
Rashed Khan has been elected the general secretary.
The election of the National Council and the Higher Council was held by a faction of Gono Odhikar Parishad – led by Nurul Haque Nur – amid deepening infighting and expulsion and counter-expulsion in the party.

Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Management Board – formed on July 2 – Ariful Islam announced the results after the counting of votes on Monday night.
Nurul Haque Nur was the member secretary of the party and Rashed Khan was the acting convener.
The polling was held from 12 noon to 5 pm at the party's central office at Pritam Zaman Tower in Purana Paltan.

Three candidates contested for the post of president including Nur, Bayezid Hossain Shahed and Nazam-us-Saqib. Meanwhile, five including Rashed Khan contested for general secretary.
The total number of voters in this election was 216, out of which 126 were voters in the higher council. Others have been included in the electoral rolls as district representatives.
As many as 18 candidates contested for eight posts in the higher council.
The winning candidates for Higher Council are: Abu Hanif, Shakiluzzaman, Hanif Khan Sajib, Shahidul Islam Fahim, Fatema Tasneem, Abdus Zaher, Noor-e-Ershad Siddiqui and Jasim Uddin.
