Leaders and activists of Jatiya Jubo Shakti, the youth wing of the National Citizen Party (NCP), staged a demonstration in front of the Department of Youth Development in Motijheel on Sunday to press home their five-point demand, including the resignation of State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque over an alleged question paper leak in a recruitment examination.
The protesters held a sit-in in the morning to press for their demands that also included forming an independent and impartial committee to investigate the question paper leak and ensuring the arrest and punishment of those responsible; ending politicisation, nepotism and irregularities in recruitment to ensure merit-based appointments; stopping harassment in the name of verification and manipulation of viva voce marks; and publishing a specific government action plan for youth employment and development.
The protest followed the postponement of the recruitment test for assistant upazila youth development officer under the Department of Youth Development on Saturday after allegations that the question paper had been leaked.
Job seekers subsequently blocked a road in the capital’s Shahbagh area to protest the incident.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports formed a five-member committee to investigate the allegations after the question papers circulated on social media.
