The Awami League general secretary made the remarks after paying his respects at the National Memorial at Savar.
He also said uprooting the poison of communal extremism is this year's Victory Day oath.
The bridges minister said that an evil communal force is fighting against the spirit of the liberation war. This time the promise of Victory Day is that we will resist the communal forces in the spirit of Liberation War.

"We will not compromise on our oath, our ideology, the values of the liberation war, the ideology of freedom. We can let them know that too," he added.

A discussion was held in the afternoon at the Awami League’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue marking the Victory Day where Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina addressed the discussion via video conference.

The ruling Awami League also took programmes, including placing of wreaths at National Martyrs’ Memorial, at the portrait of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Bhaban in the capital’s Dhanmondi and at his mausoleum in Tungipara this morning.
