Four players and coaches from the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) have been fined by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for violating the BCB Code of Conduct during various matches.

Khaled Mahmud, Khulna Tigers head coach; Rangpur Riders duo Shak Mahedi Hasan and Nicholas Pooran; and Comilla Victorians’ Musaddek Hossain have been penalized for actions that violated the spirit of the game, including abuse of cricket equipment and breach of clothing regulations.

Mahmud was fined 30% of his match fees and received two demerit points for violating Article 2.20 of the BCB Code of Conduct.

BCB did not specify the reason for Mahmud’s punishment. However, it is likely that he was fined for smoking in the Khulna Tigers dressing room, which was caught on live television.

The incident took place during the match between the Khulna Tigers and Fortune Barishal on February 10 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur. 

Mahedi was fined 25% of his match fees and received one demerit point for violating Article 2.2 of the BCB Code of Conduct during the eliminator match against Fortune Barishal on February 12 at SBNCS.

Pooran was fined 50% of his match fees and received two demerit points for violating Article 2.22 of the BCB Code of Conduct during the same match. He was charged for wearing an unauthorized logo on his helmet.

Musaddek was fined 25% of his match fees and received one demerit point for violating Article 2.22 of the BCB Code of Conduct during the first qualifier against Sylhet Strikers on February 12 at SBNCS. He was found to have worn an unauthorized logo on his helmet.

The on-field umpires, third umpires, and fourth umpires of the respective matches brought the charges forward. The players and coaches admitted their offenses and accepted the sanctions proposed by the match referees, avoiding the need for formal hearings.
