Two times Asian Games silver medalists Bangladesh women's cricket team was eliminated from title race of the 9th Asian Games Cricket losing to India by eight wickets in the first semifinal at the Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket ground in Hangzhou on Sunday .

Bangladesh will play Pakistan in a bronze medal deciding match Monday morning while Sri Lanka will face India in a gold medal deciding final match Monday afternoon at the same venue.

In the day' s 2nd semifinal, Sri Lanka eliminated Pakistan by six wickets in a low scoring match Sunday afternoon at the same venue.

Earlier, Bangladesh declared winner against Hong Kong in a rain-marred quarter final in Hangzhou last Friday (Sept 22) to reach the semifinal as their ICC ranking is higher than Hong Kong.

In the day's first semifinal, Bangladesh women's team opened the innings first after winning the toss and were bundled out cheaply for their ever- lowest total of 51 runs in 17.5 overs against superb bowling by Indian Pooja Vastrakar.

Indian reserve bench pacer Pooja, who got the chance in the day's match in place of injured Anjali Sarvani, made his career best bowling grabbing four wickets for 17 runs in four overs.

He made the major damage in Bangladesh innings dismissing two openers for just one run in the first five balls of the very first over and finally settled for four wickets for 17 runs.

Captain Nigar Sultana was the only Bangladesh batter to reach the double figure of 12 runs off 17 balls with one boundary where five Bangladeshi batters back to pavilion with duck.

In reply, Indian women's faced no trouble to score the match winner 52 runs for the loss of two wickets in 8.2 overs.

Fahima Khatun and Marufa Akhter shared one Indian wicket each.

Asian Games Hockey:

Bangladesh made a frustrating start in the 19th Asian Games Hockey losing to Japan by 2-7 goal in Hangzhou on Sunday.

Bangladesh went down by 0-4 goal in the first quarter.

Ashraful Islam and Pushkar Kisha Mimo scored one goal each for Bangladesh in the 29th and 40th minute respectively.

Shooting :

Bangladesh women's shooting team finished 9th among 15 teams in the team events of the women's 10- meter Air Rifles Shooting of the Asian Games on Sunday.

All the three Bangladeshi shooters failed to qualify for the final round of the individual events.

Shaiyra Khatun of Bangladesh finished 13th, Nafisa Tabassum finished 25th and Kamrun Nahar Koli finished 27th among 59 participants of the events.

Swimming:

Bangladeshi swimmer Samiul Islam finished 21st among 28 swimmers in the men's 100-meter breaststroke of the Hangzhou Asiad with a timing 1,00 02 minute on Sunday morning.
