Returning officer and Legal Affairs Officer of NSC SM Kabirul Hasan said on Friday, “Voting in the election will be held at National Sports Council (old building) from 10am to 3pm on the day. After that we will announce the preliminarily results.”
The election commission of the National Sports Council (NSC) on July 29 finalised the list of candidate for the elections.
Shadat Hossain Sohel withdrew his name from joint secretary post while Narayanganj councillor Nasir and Madaripur councillor Mokhlesur Rahman withdrew their candidatures from the membership posts.
After their withdrawal, a total of 42 candidates are vying for the electoral race and are going to compete against 28 posts of the federation executive committee, including five vice-presidents, one general secretary, two joint secretaries, one treasurer and 19 members.
Three candidates Abdur Rokib Montu, Shah Alam and Jahangirnagar University councillor Shadat Hossain Sohel will contest for the secretary post.
According to the election commission, a total of 120 councillors will be able to exercise their franchise to form committee of the federation.
The election to Bangladesh Athletic Federation was earlier postponed once in the dying moment in 2017 after the last polls held in 2013.
Meanwhile, the federation was run by the ad-hoc committee, which was formed by NSC on March 15 in 2017.
