The Bangabandhu 5th Central South Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championship, organized on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is set to be inaugurated on Wednesday (Oct 27) at the Shaheed Suhrawardi National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur here.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen MP will inaugurate the meet Wednesday afternoon at a function to be chaired by Gymnastics Federation president Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Mamun. State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell will also present as special guest.
However, the qualifying round of the competition begins on Thursday.
Bangladesh-origin Russian gymnast Margarita Mamun, who won the gold medal in rhythmic gymnastics in the 2016 Rio Olympics, will attend the function as the goodwill Ambassador of the tournament.
