Bangladesh Women’s Volleyball team made a flying start in the first edition of Bangamata Asian Senior Women’s Central Zone International Volleyball Championship’2019 beating Afghanistan by 3-0 (25-9, 25-9, 25-3) sets in the opening match at Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.
Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury inaugurated the six-day meet as the chief guest in the afternoon.
Chairman of the meet’s Organizing Committee and Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Chairman of the meet’s Steering Committee and Managing Director of Younus Group Mohammed Younus, President of Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) and DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam and BVF General Secretary Ashiqur Rahman Miku were also present on the occasion.
Earlier in the day’s first match, the Maldives beat Kyrgyzstan by 3-2 sets at the same venue in the morning
Afghanistan will play Nepal at 1 pm and Bangladesh to play the Maldives at 3 pm on Sunday.
