Defending champions Bashundhara Kings and former champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd started the Bashundhara Kings Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football with emphatic wins in their opening matches on Saturday at different venues in Dhaka and its surrounding areas.
Bashundhara Kings, last season's treble-winners, delivered a stunning performance by crushing Chittagong Abahani Limited 7-0 at their home venue, Bashundhara Kings Arena, on Saturday evening.
France booter Jared Khasa and local forward Rakib Hossain each scored twice, while Foysal Ahmed Fathim, Brazilian footballer Miguel Damasceno, and Mojibur Rahman Jony contributed one goal apiece. The Kings dominated the first half, leading 4-0.
In another match, Dhaka Abahani Ltd defeated Youngmen's Club 2-0 at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur.
Forward Enamul Islam Gazi broke the deadlock in the 71st minute, putting the sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit ahead (1-0). Forward Jafar Iqbal sealed the win by scoring in the third minute of stoppage time (90+3).
Meanwhile, Rahmatganj MFS outclassed Fortis FC Ltd with a 3-1 victory at the Bir Shreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Saturday afternoon.
Oshie opened the scoring for Rahmatganj in the 59th minute (1-0), Taj doubled the lead in the 67th minute (2-0), and Felix added a third goal in the 69th minute (3-0).
SM Manjurur scored a consolation goal for Fortis SC in the 74th minute (3-1).
