On the last day of three-day nomination distribution process on Monday (Sept 7), three nomination papers for the president post, two for the senior vice president, eight for vice president and 36 for executive members were sold out.
The BFF will go for polls to elect 21-member executive committee on October 3, for one president, one senior vice president, four vice presidents and 15 EC members from 2 pm to 6 pm at the Sonargaon Hotel.
As per remaining schedule of election, hearing of complain against candidates (if any) will be held on Wednesday (Sept 9) from 11 am to 3 pm, scrutiny of nomination papers on Sept 11 from 3 pm, withdrawal of candidature from Sept 8 to 12 from 11 am to 5 pm, publication of final candidate list on Sept 13 at 3:pm and election on October 3.
The much-talked about BFF polls turned into an exciting one as two former national footballers Badal Roy and Shafiqul Islam Manik challenged long serving Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin in the hot seat of BFF president.
Badal Roy, one of the four vice president of the BFF executive committee, threw strong challenge to his president Kazi Salahuddin, as per his previous declaration, ignoring his present critical health condition after suffering from Covid-19.
In an another surprise move, a 52 years old former national defender cum national football team and club team coach Shafiqul Islam Manik collected nomination paper unexpectedly for the hot seat of BFF turnishing all the speculation.
Country's soccer pundit were almost assured of that Kazi Salahuddin is going to be elected BFF president for the 4th consecutive terms unopposed as his main contender Tarafder Md Ruhul Amin declined to compete in BFF Election '20 and his fellow alternative candidate Badal Roy was also in sick, but the total election scenario has been changed on Monday.
Former national striker Sheikh Mohammad Aslam also challenged seating senior vice president and his Khulna district mate Abdus Salam Murshedy MP in the post.
