Replying to Thunder’s 174 for 4 in 20 overs, Dhaka Platoon made a solid foundation of their innings as national coloured Anamul Haque Bijoy pairing with Tamim Iqbal scored 58 runs in the opening stand.
Anamul fell as the first batsman scoring 32 off 23 balls with five fours while Tamim remained unbeaten on 60 off 49 balls with five fours and two sixes.
With the innings, Tamim Iqbal completed 2000 runs in BPL as the first batsman.
The southpaw took 62 innings of 63 matches to touch the milestone with one century and 18 half centuries. Mushfiqur Rahim is just behind Tamim with 1937 runs from 72 innings of 76 matches.
Right-handed batsman Mahedi Hasan came to bat at number three and hit 56 off 28 with five fours and three sixes. It was his 2nd consecutive fifty for Platoon. Mahedi was removed by Ebadot Hossain.
Platoon reached the target without losing any more wicket as Tamim and Jaker Ali added 30 runs in the 3rd wicket stand to ensure the Platoon victory.
Mosaddek Hossan and Ebadot took one wicket each for the Thunder.
Earlier, Thunder won the toss and opted to bat first, but their openers Andre Fletcher and Abdul Mazid failed to take the advantage of batting first.
Fletcher was removed by Mahedi Hasan in the very first ball of the innings while Abdul Mazid scored only eight runs.
Charles came in at number three and hit 73 off 45 balls with three fours and eight sixes. After Charles’ dismissal, Mosaddek Hossain was also dismissed quickly for two.
In the fifth wicket stand, Sherfane Rutherford and Mithun added 65 runs to put up a strong total of 174. Mithun remained unbeaten on 49 off 31 with one four and four sixes while Rutherford posted 38 off 28 with three fours and two sixes.
Before today’s game, Thunder played five matches and lost four of them while Platoon played five matches and won three of them.
Platoon will face Chattogram Challengers in their next game on December 27 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium while Thunder will take on Khulna Tigers on December 28 at the same venue.
