Ajoy, former BSJA vice-president, passed away while undergoing treatment at a London hospital on July 12 at the age of 71 while visiting the UK to cover the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup in England and Wales.
Ajoy’s long-time colleagues, senior journalists and sports organisers recalled their sweet memories with the pioneer of sports journalist, who was a perfect gentleman.
Veteran sports journalist Mohammad Kamruzzaman, acting editor of Dainik Sangbad Khondakar Moniruzzaman, deputy secretary general of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Ishtiaq Ahmed Karen, vice-president of BOA Sports Medicine Committee Prof Dr Zakir Ahmed, former BSJA president Manjurul Haque, former general secretary and cricket coach cum writer Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury, BSJA president Motahar Hossain Masum, general secretary Raihan Al Mugni, sports journalists Kashinath Basak, Md Mustafa Kamal, Parvez Alam Chowdhury and Rakibul Hasan also spoke on the occasion.
