BPL champions Bashundhara Kings emerged unbeaten Group C champions to reach the quarterfinals of the 35th Federation Cup Football, eliminating Sheikh Russel KC by a 1-0 goal at the Bir Shreshtha Fl Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Tuesday afternoon.
Uzbek midfielder Asror Gafurov scored the match-winning goal for the Kings in the 36th minute (1-0).
Kings Brazilian medio Miguel Ferreira got the marching order in the 86th minute of the match after receiving a direct red card.
After the day's match, Bashundhara Kings and Fortis FC qualified for the quarterfinals as the Group C champions and runners-up, securing six and three points, respectively, at the coffin of pointless Sheikh Russel KC.
In the day's other match, Bangladesh Police FC shared points with Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in a Group A match that ended in a 2-2 draw at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.
Both teams qualified for the quarterfinals from Group A.
Sheikh Jamal emerged as group champions, securing four points, while Police FC finished as group runners-up, securing two points, after playing both group matches.
All four goals of the match were scored in the first half.
Abdullah put Sheikh Jamal ahead in the 23rd minute (1-0), while Quazem restored the parity for Police SC just two minutes later (1-1).
Colombian striker Garcia scored the second goal for Police in the 31st minute (2-1), while Nigerian medio Dimgba levelled the margin for Sheikh Jamal DC in the 39th minute from a penalty (2-2).
Earlier, two traditional rivals--holders Dhaka Mohammedan and runners-up Dhaka Abahani—assured the quarterfinal berth from B with one match to spare, securing full six points from straight two matches. They will meet each other on February 13 to decide the group champions.
