Dhaka, Nov 10 (UNB) - Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra qualified for the semifinal of the season’s curtain raiser soccer meet Walton Federation Cup Football Tournament by eliminating last time runners-up Chattogram Abahani Limited by 1-0 goal in the 3rd quarterfinal at floodlight Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Saturday.

After a barren first half, Raphael scored match winning goal for Sheikh Russel KC in the 47th minute, utilizing a cross of Uzbek forward Azizov (1-0).

Dhaka Abahani Limited and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club reached the last four stages to meet each other in the first semifinal on November 19 while Sheikh Russel KC will play the 2nd semifinal on November 20 against the winners of the match among big budged Bashundhara Kings and Team BJMC, to be played on Sunday at 5 pm at the same venue.

Earlier, defending champions Dhaka Abahani Limited booked a seat for semis eliminated Arambagh KC by 3-2 goals in the last minute thriller on Thursday while Jamal Dhanmondi Club advanced to the last four stage eliminating Saif Sporting Club by 2-1 goals in the second quarterfinal on Friday.
