Morocco qualified for the Round of 16 of the 2022 Qatar World Cup through their win against Canada, finishing top of their Group ahead of Croatia and Belgium.

However, an own goal from center back Nayef Aguerd brought Canada back into the game, and the score was 2-1 at halftime.
