Dhaka, Oct 17 (UNB) – Bangladeshi GM Ziaur Rahman of Saif SC sharing 2nd slot in the 1st Goa International Open Grandmasters Chess Tournament with seven other players securing five points after the 6th round matches now being held in the Indian tourist town of Goa on Wednesday.

FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Sheikh Russel CC earned 4 points, IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin of Bangladesh Navy and IM Abu Sufian Shakil of Sheikh Russel CC collected 3.5 points each, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy, CM Ikramul Haq Siam of Titas Club and Mohammad Amir Ali Rana of Golden SC bagged 2.5 points each.

Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Golden SC secured 1.5 points, Mohammad Masum Rahi bagged one points.

In the day’s 6th round matches, GM Zia beat IM Kanguvel Ponnuswamy of India, IM Shakil drew with Jayachandra Srinivas Vellanki of India, FM Parag beat Shyam Prasad Reddy of India, IM Minhaz beat R Rathneesh of India, FM Nasir drew with Shah Jeet of India, CM Siam drew with Srikrishnan of India, Tahsin lost to Sathya Naarayanan of India, Rana beat Srivatsen Sekar of India and Rahi lost to Acosta Mariano of USA.
