Despite an encouraging start, Sri Lanka could only manage 209 runs in 43.3 overs in their ICC World Cup match against Australia on Monday.
Winning the toss and choosing to bat, Sri Lanka saw an impressive 125-run opening partnership between Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera. However, their fortunes took a turn when Pat Cummins ended this stand.
The dismissal of Nissanka marked the beginning of a steep decline for Sri Lanka. Nissanka was the first to fall, scoring 61 with the team at 125 for one.
