Roy took 92 deliveries to complete his ninth ODI hundred – his first in the World Cup – with 12 fours and one six. He pulled Mustafizur Rahman through the deep square-leg for a boundary to reach the ton.
At the end of 27 overs, England were at 167-1. The hosts played aggressively from the start and reached the 100-run mark in 15 overs without losing any wicket.
They lost the first wicket to Bangladeshi skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. Mehidy Hasan Miraz took an excellent low catch when Jonny Bairstow misjudged the pace.
