Daily Star reached semifinal crushing Bangladesh Pratidin by 3-0 goals in the day’s first quarterfinal while Channel I beat Jagonews24.com by 3-1 goals in the 2nd quarterfinal.
In the day’s other two quarterfinal games, Dhaka Tribune beat Bangla Vision by 4-1 goals in tie-breaker and Dainik Samakal defeated Boishikhi TV by 4-2 goals in tie-breaker.
Mehedi of Daily Star, Abdullah Al Nofel of Channel I, Fazle Rabbi Moon of Dhaka Tribune and Ariful of Dainik Samakal announced man of the matches.
Former Bangladeshi football star Imtiaz Sultan Jony, former star goalkeepers Aminul Islam and Biplab Bhattacharya, BSJA President Motaher Hossain Masum, former General Secretary Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury, BSJA Treasurer Abu Sadat, Tournament Committee convener Rakibul Hasan and Tournament Committee member secretary Arafat Jubair distributed the prizes among the players.
The two semifinals and final match will be held on Saturday at the same venue.
Daily Star will play Dhaka Tribune in the first semifinal while Dainik Samakal will encounter Channel I in the other semifinal, both at 10 am.
A total of 24 media teams of different newspapers, news agencies, electronic and online media, split into eight groups, took part on the league based group matches.
