Hosts Bangladesh conceded a 3-1 defeat to Pakistan in a preparatory match at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium on Sunday, ahead the five-nation Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2021 beginning here on Tuesday (December 14).
Abu Bakar, Rana Wahid and Mobashir Ali scored one each for Pakistan while Rakibul Hasan scored the lone goal for Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, all the four foreign teams –Japan, Korea, India and Pakistan are in capital to participate in the heavyweight Asian meet.
Another foreign participant Malaysia withdrew their team from the meet in the last moment as one of their players tested positive for Covid-19
Participating countries are: India, Korea, Japan, Pakistan and hosts Bangladesh.
India will play Korea in the opening match at 3:30 pm on Tuesday (Dec 14) while Pakistan will play Japan at 6pm in the other opening day fixture.
Bangladesh will start their campaign taking on giant India on Wednesday (Dec 15) at 3:30 pm while the titans’ battle between India and Pakistan will be held on Dec 17 at 3:30 pm.
