The event is being held at the Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Complex in Mirpur. The first two days saw 11 national records being made.
In the 18 events held so far, Navy dominated the table with 13 gold, 12 silver and seven bronze medals. Bangladesh Army is in the distant second place with five gold, five silver and nine bronze medals. Bogura Swimming Centre is in the third position with a silver medal.
Although the competition started on Sunday, it was inaugurated by Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Dr Mohammad Zafar Uddin on Monday afternoon.
Secretary of the National Sports Council M Masud Karim and Chairman of the meet’s sponsor Max Group and Senior Vice-President of Swimming Federation Golam Mohammad Alamgir were also present on the occasion.
Bangladesh-origin British citizen Junaida Ahmed of Navy dominated the medal table in the women’s group by clinching four individual gold medals featuring three new national records. Jewel Ahmed of Army topped the list in men’s group with three individual gold medals, all with national records.
Junaina earned two gold medals with national marks in the women’s 200-meter freestyle and women’s 200 meter back stroke on Sunday. On the second day, she bagged two individual golds in women’s 400-meter individual medley and 50 meter freestyle. She also shared a gold medal in the 4X200-meter freestyle relay with Sonia Akhter, Sonia Khatun Tumpa and Mahfuza.
Jewel clinched men’s 200-meter back stroke gold with national record on Sunday. On Monday, he earned two more gold medals in the men’s 100 meter back stroke and 400-meter individual medley, both with national marks.
Asif Reza of Bangladesh Navy emerged as the fastest swimmer by clinching the men’s 50-meter freestyle gold medal with national record. Junaina was named the fastest swimmer for clinching women’s 50-meter freestyle gold medal.
