Dhaka, Oct 7 (UNB) - Oman Under-21 Hockey team arrived in the capital Monday afternoon responding to invitation of Bangladesh Hockey Federation’s (BHF) to play a five-match practice series against Bangladesh U-21 Hockey team.

Oman Hockey team reached Dhaka from Pakistan after playing four preparatory matches there. 

The first match of the five-match series will begin on Tuesday (Oct 8) at 4:30 pm local time at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium here.

Oman Hockey team, which will also compete in next year’s Junior Asia Cup in Dhaka, will play the remaining five practice matches against their Bangladesh counterpart.

The BHF invited Oman Youth Hockey team to play the practice matches here to prepare Bangladesh U-21 hockey for the eight-team upcoming Junior Asia Cup in June next year in Dhaka, a qualifying meet for the Junior Hockey World Cup.

Bangladesh Hockey Federation earlier decided to host Junior Asia Cup Hockey 2020 in June and Asian Champions Trophy in October next year, marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Bangladesh team is now undergoing training at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium under supervision of coach Mamun-ur-Rashid.
