After Bangladesh Women’s cricket team beat Thailand by nine wickets in their first match of Women’s Asia Cup in Sylhet, Nazmul Hasan Papon, BCB president, has said it is the board’s failure to not look at women’s cricket with the attention it deserves.
Ahead of the Asia Cup, Bangladesh women’s team emerged as champions of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers.
The BCB president said the women’s team has been playing very well on a regular basis. Despite that, the board has not given proper attention to the women’s team, which as he described, is a “failure of the board”.
“They have been playing so well for a long time,” Papon said in Sylhet. “They won the World Cup qualifiers. They played the previous World Cup, winning the qualifiers, and they also won the Asia Cup before. But we did not give them the attention they deserved, this is our failure.”
On Saturday, Bangladesh beat Thailand by nine wickets to kick off their campaign of keeping the title home. In 2018, Bangladesh women won the Asia Cup for the first time beating India.
