Shakib was instrumental to Bangladesh's success in the first ODI match of the series, taking five wickets which allowed the team to have a strong start. He is also an integral part of the Test team; losing him for the Test series would pose a tough challenge for the Tigers.
In six Tests against India, Shakib has enjoyed moderate success. He has scored 260 runs at an average of 26, taking 15 wickets with a five-for.
