After kicking off their T20 World Cup campaign with a nine-run win over the Netherlands, the Bangladesh team reached Sydney on Tuesday. The Tigers will take on South Africa in Sydney on October 27.
Taskin Ahmed, the right-arm pacer, was the star of Bangladesh in their first-ever win in the Super 12s stage of the T20 World Cups.
He bagged four wickets conceding 25 runs in four overs. Two of Taskin’s four wickets came off the first two balls of the innings— the first of such instances in the history of the T20 World Cups.
Hasan Mahmud, the other pacer, also bowled well and drew the attention of the cricket fans. He bagged two wickets conceding only 15 runs in four overs.
The Netherlands tried their best to offer Bangladesh a tough challenge, but they lost wickets on the key moments while chasing a moderate total of 144 runs, and thus, they were never in a position to take the match away from Bangladesh’s grab.
While batting, Afif Hossain was Bangladesh’s main star. He scored 38 off 27 balls. He helped the Tigers to surpass the 140-run mark. Mossaddek Hossain’s cameo of 20 off 12 deliveries also helped the Tigers.
Now the Tigers take on the South Africans in their second Super 12 game on Thursday. These two teams were supposed to meet in the warm-up match, but bad weather prevented the match from taking place.
