Bangladesh's unbeaten home ODI series streak of seven years came to a shattering end as England thrashed them by 132 runs in Dhaka on Friday.
The Tigers' captain Tamim Iqbal admitted his team's performance was below par in both bowling and batting, which led to the eventual loss in the second ODI of the three-match series.
England won the toss and decided to bat first, posting a big total of 326 runs on the tricky Mirpur surface, which was never easy to bat on. The tourists were led by Jason Roy's scintillating century and Jos Buttler's handy fifty. The Bangladesh bowlers struggled in the first few overs, which allowed England to build a strong platform.
In reply, Bangladesh got off to a horrific start, losing two wickets in the first over, both returning with a duck each. The hosts eventually tumbled to 194 in 44.4 overs and lost the match by a big margin.

“There were many reasons behind this defeat,” Tamim said in the post-match press conference. “We failed to bowl well in the first few overs after opting to bowl first. We got a chance of running out Jos, but we could not do that. We were not up to the mark today.”
Tamim also said that Bangladesh had a great chance to restrict England in 260 to 270, but missing the run-out failed them. “We did not miss so many catches, but we let go of runs,” Tamim expressed his disappointment about sloppy fielding.
The defeat ended Bangladesh's seven-year unbeaten run in the home ODI series, which was a significant blow for the team. The third and final ODI is due on March 6 at Chattogram, and Bangladesh will try to finish the series on a high note.
After the ODI series, the teams will lock horns in a three-match T20 series.
