The three-match T20 internationals and two-match Test series are unsure as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to agree to tour Pakistan for a longer period citing security concerns. They instead offered the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play only T20Is.
But PCB rejected this offer and asked BCB if they are willing to tour at least for the two-match Test series as it is part of the World Test Championship. The two series are in jeopardy if BCB does not agree.
“If you ask me for a personal view, I’d say that I’d have gone to Pakistan [if I were in the team],” Mashrafe told the media after the match of Dhaka Platoon in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Friday.
He said he would have discussed with his family before making the final call. “Many things depend on family decisions. My view doesn’t mean that those who haven’t agreed to participate in the tour are wrong. There’s nothing more important than life. I respect everyone’s personal stance on this,” he said.
As per the latest development, BCB told PCB that they need more time to make the final decision regarding the tour. BCB will hold a board meeting on January 12 and the final decision will be taken after the meeting.
Some media reports suggested that Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad have not agreed to tour Pakistan and already informed BCB about their decisions.
Most other players, however, are ready for this tour but they prefer a shorter period of time.
