Apple has never stopped surprising the world with extraordinary features. On September 7, 2022, Apple launched their latest iPhone 14 series. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max variants differ significantly from the standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models. 

What’s new on Apple’s iPhone series 

— Brighter display featuring Dynamic Island: 

Apple claims that the bezels have been considerably decreased in the latest iPhone 14 models, but the sizes are once again 6.1 and 6.7 inches. The display is brighter than previous models’, with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. 

In the latest iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max model, you get a pill-shaped "Dynamic Island" which has replaced the previous upper-display notch. This ‘Always-On’ display feature will not only allow the users to access controls with just a tap-and-hold; but also give quick access to crucial information.

Running on iOS 16, the Dynamic Island can show information like sports scores while running background activities like Maps, Music, or timer. Those who love multitasking shouldn’t miss it. 

— Powerful cameras with Photonic Engine and auto focus selfie shooter: 

The iPhone 14 and Plus models sport primary (f /1.5) and ultra-wide (f/2.4) cameras on the back but still have a 12-megapixel resolution. These sensors have been enhanced with a faster aperture.

The Pro versions, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, come with significant improvement in the camera section. A quad-pixel sensor with a 48-megapixel resolution (f/1.8) has been added to the primary camera, making it 65% bigger than the sensor in the iPhone 13 Pro.

Apple is utilizing the increased resolution for the company's ProRAW format as well as an additional step in the camera's zoom, which now includes a 2x option in addition to a 3x option. Furthermore, the telephoto (f/2.8) and ultra-wide (f/2.2) cameras have also been improved. 

All the models of iPhone 14 series are blessed with a new feature called ‘Photonic Engine.’ This exclusive feature will create Deep Fusion before the photos are compressed. It will "dramatically" improve (49%) low-light performance of the iPhone model's cameras, including the selfie cameras. 

For the first time in the history of the company, the selfie camera will have auto-focus and depart from the FF solution. Additionally, a 6P lens and a brilliant f/1.9 aperture will be included. All the models will bear this feature.

— Robust processor

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max variants are equipped with A16 Bionic, a brand-new processor that Apple claims promises better performance while using less power. For Pro and the Pro Max, the battery life is still "all-day," or, to be more accurate, up to 29 hours and 23 hours of video playback, respectively.

The non-Pro models, iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, are powered by the A15 Bionic from last year, which Apple upgraded to "Pro" grade by adding an additional GPU core for a total of 5 cores. This is another difference from last year.

— Emergency SOS via Satellite

Emergency SOS via Satellite is another splendid function offered by all the models of iPhone 14 series. This feature will enable the iPhone phones to get connectivity in places without cell towers.

— Other handy features

Crash detection is a feature available on all new iPhone models, which uses the phone's different sensors to determine whether a crash has occurred. 

The iPhone 14 series presents a new action mode for video. This feature produces extraordinarily smooth-looking video and compensates for strong shaking, movements, and vibrations, even when the action is being recorded.

US models of Apple iPhone 14 series no longer have a SIM tray.
