Widely celebrated smartphone company OPPO is recognized for providing exceptional features on a limited budget. A special edition of its latest budget phone, the OPPO A5, launched in Bangladesh on March 9, 2025, with mass appeal. Here is a detailed review of the OPPO A5 Pro’s specs, pros, cons, and pricing in Bangladesh.

Key Features of OPPO A5 Pro 4G

The OPPO A5 Pro variant released in Bangladesh differs from the global and Chinese versions in design and performance. Besides, the phone faces strong competition from market leaders like the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G and the Motorola Moto G85. This review goes in-depth to describe the OPPO A5 Pro's competitive worth.

Design and Aesthetics

The OPPO A5 Pro features a stern and sleek design, much different from the Chinese version’s solid pompous appearance. The body measures 6.49 inches by 2.97 inches by 0.31 inches, keeping a regular height and moderate depth in dimensions. It weighs 194 g to 195 g, a little higher than the Moto G85’s 171 g.

A polished square camera module with rounded corners protrudes on the back of the phone, housing two circular lens holders and a flash ring, while the Chinese version has a circular camera module with nudged bevels around, serving a more groovy design.

The rounded corners, circular placeholders, and ring-like flash add a soft and smooth feel to the overall design of the OPPO A5 Pro. Combined, they match the simplicity of the Motorola Moto G85 and the minimalism of the Samsung Galaxy A16.

The OPPO's body is plastic-built and sandwiched with stress-withstanding glass covers that bring a military-grade sturdiness. With an IP68/IP69 certification, the phone provides extreme dust and water resistance, outflanking the Samsung Galaxy A16 ’s IP54 and the Motorola Moto G85’s IP52 rating.

A5 Pro comes with two colour choices: Olive Green and Mocha Brown, both on a matte-finished vegan leather back panel.

Display

In the A5 Pro model, OPPO has used a 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel that renders clear and vivid images at 720 by 1604 pixels resolution. Even though the display provides an acceptable visual scope, keeping an 86% screen-to-body ratio, it underplays in competition. At the same price range, the Moto G85 shines with a P-OLED screen and the Galaxy A16 with a Super AMOLED.

An effort to compensate for the shortcomings by cramming a few extra pixels into the display would be appreciable, as the display suffers from dimness due to its 264 ppi pixel density, which is remarkably lower than the Moto G85’s 395 ppi and the Galaxy A16's 385 ppi density.

Despite the comparatively poor visual quality, the OPPO A5 Pro is fast at accumulating touch instructions, benefiting from a 90Hz refresh rate. Its 1000-nit peak brightness level provides explicit navigation in daylight, drawing an edge over the Samsung Galaxy A16’s 800-nit peak radiance. However, Motorola Moto G85 wins the race with 1600 peak brightness.

Camera

The OPPO A5 Pro’s photographic arsenal includes a 50MP (f/1.8) wide and a 2MP (f/2.4) monochrome primary shooter, vertically juxtaposed on the rear camera panel. Together, they snap decent photos that look more natural once enhanced by the AI assistant. When a double-lens system is prevalent in the cheap smartphone market, a few alternatives, like the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G, offer triple-camera modules.

On the front of the A5 Pro, a punch hole holds an 8MP (f/2.0) selfie camera. Basic at performance, the frontal lens captures washed-out images smoothened by the default AI enhancer, creating a plain dullness throughout the picture. The lens induces disappointment as the market is brimming with higher-resolution alternatives like the 13MP lens in the Galaxy A16 and the 32MP lens in the Moto G85.

Videography with the phone is possible at 1080p resolution and 30 fps frame rate, requiring a stabilizer to reduce the shaky effect caused by movement during the recording period.

Hardware

A Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen1 octa-core processor paired with an Adreno 610 graphical processing unit streamlines operations throughout the phone. While efficient in performing day-to-day tasks, the phone struggles to play games at the highest resolutions.

Both Gen1 Snapdragon and Adreno 610 are outdated, with a few cases of small budget iterations, and severely outperformed by higher-generation models like the Qualcomm SM6375 Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 used in the Moto G85 and the Mediatek Dimensity 6300 found in the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G.

The local edition of the phone will be available in 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, unlike the diverse memory range offered by the global and Chinese versions.

Software

The OPPO A5 Pro runs on Color OS 15, an Android 15 variant modified by OPPO that includes automated photo modification and assistance systems and expands regular customization, privacy, and cross-platform sharing services. With Samsung delaying the release of One UI 15 even on the eve of the official Android 16 launch, the OPPO A5 Pro becomes the exclusive choice for up-to-date users.

Battery and Charging

The OPPO A5 Pro features a massive 5800 mAh battery that surpasses rivals—the 5000 mAh cells of the Galaxy A16 and the Moto G85—in capacity and runtime. With moderate usage, summed up with several short video streaming and gaming sessions and app browsing hours, the runtime stretches over a couple of days.

The battery takes about an hour to refill, thanks to the 45W fast, wired charger that comes boxed with the phone and marks another win against Samsung’s 25W and Motorola’s 30W charging units.

Apart from a giant battery and super sturdy build quality, the phone’s features mark a steep deviation from the robust and premium features of similarly priced smartphones from Samsung, Motorola, and Xiaomi. With a lacklustre screen, an ancient CPU and GPU, and indifferent cameras, the OPPO A5 Pro appears to be a basic, high-priced smartphone.
