Tecno has got worldwide appreciation for producing entry-level to mid-range Smartphones for quite some time now. The company is known for its performance and value for money offering. This time with the Tecno Pop 5 LTE, the company aimed to offer the best durability feature under the budget segment. The phone officially launched on 16th February in India. So does it live up to the claims of 10,000 drop tests? Let's check out the features, specs, and price of Tecno Pop 5 LTE in Bangladesh.
Key Features of Tecno Pop 5 LTE
Design and Build Quality
The Tecno Pop 5 LTE is a through and through aggressively priced budget phone. So the expectations in the design and build quality shouldn’t be sky-high. Yet the device packs a serious punch in both the elements for its price.

The vertical dual-tone finish on the back has a crossed design on one side and a glossy finish on the other. There is also the large Tecno branding reminiscent of the other Tecno devices. The phone is made of durable polycarbonate and to be honest, this phone is built like a tank.
The volume rocker and the power button are situated on the right of the device with the sim tray on the left. The sim slot has a dedicated position for a micro SDXC card for added storage.
The single firing speaker and the 3.5 mm headphone jack are situated on the bottom of the device.

There is a dedicated fingerprint sensor on the Pop 5 LTE as the phone lacks any kind of facial recognition feature. The fingerprint scanner acts as the primary security mechanism here.
The only letdown here is the micro-USB port. But the choice here is understandable considering the price.
Overall, the phone feels solid and durable at 195 g. This is mostly attributed to the reinforced polycarbonate which allows for bold durability claims.

The Display
The display is nothing special here. The Pop 5 LTE features a 6.52-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel. The 720P panel has a 269 ppi density which is understandably not the sharpest display out there. The colors look great on the device. However, the blacks may look a bit washed out. Compared to the similarly priced devices like the Tecno Spark 8C and Realme C11, the display looks much better even though it's just an HD+ panel. The panel won't compare with the likes of high-end ones, but the users will definitely get the value for their money out of it.
The Camera
Tecno didn’t try to do anything fancy with the cameras. Instead, they kept it simple and functional with a dual-lens module. The main sensor is an 8 MP shooter with wide-angle features. Tecno didn’t specify the details of the second panel but it appears to be a depth sensor as the zoom options are all digital on the camera app.

The camera is as expected from a budget device. The 8 MP camera can take some great shots under direct sunlight and well-lit environments. Dynamic range is almost non-existent here. The camera does struggle in artificial lighting conditions and indoors. The grains as noise increases proportionately with the decrease of light.
The portrait mode does a decent job of edge detection but at the cost of image sharpness. The front camera is a 5 MP shooter with similar features to the back camera. The main camera can also shoot 1080P at 30 fps and that’s the best on offer here for videography.

Overall, the camera doesn’t hold any surprises. Instead, it keeps things simple and realistic in its price category.
Processor and Performance
Pop 5 LTE has been provided with an entry-level processor and GPU. It was expected given the recent trajectory of devices coming out of Tecno. The processor here is MediaTek A22 with PowerVR GR8300 GPU. The processor has an octa-core setup with 4 1.6 GHz Cortex-A55 and 4 1.2 GHz Cortex-A55 chips.

Speaking of performance, the phone does well in its price bracket. The processor and the GPU aren’t really cut out for gaming. However, Call of Duty ran pretty smooth with moderate graphics settings. The phone performs well with 2D games like subway surfer and Terraria. The phone does heat up a bit after a long time of gaming but that is expected given the processor capabilities.
So who is this phone for? It is basically for those who want an everyday phone for everyday use, without any special use case. The phone is perfect for casual web browsing and YouTube with some occasional gaming here and there.

The OS here is the HIOS 7.6 based on the Android 11 Go edition. The Go edition is a lighter version of android designed for minimally capable devices. However, the HIOS might be a letdown for many as it is a heavily customized Android skin. People coming from custom OS shouldn’t have trouble adjusting to this platform. But Android purists might need some getting used to here.
Battery Life and Charge Time
Tecno’s latest phone Pop 5 LTE comes with a 5000 mAh battery. Given the display and the processor, the battery holds up pretty well in this device. Users can easily get around 7 to 8 hours of continuous usage. However, the battery takes a hit with extending gaming and mobile data usage. There is no added fast charging option here along with USB Type-C. So charging takes forever compared to the 2022 standard.

Verdict
The Tecno Pop 5 LTE is a new addition to the much-loved Tecno Pop 5 series. The refresh iteration doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, rather stick to its strengths all the while maintaining the aggressive price. The super durable build quality is easily one of its strongest selling points. The battery and the display come at a close second. However, Tecno could have done better in the camera department. Other than that, the phone is a well-built entry-level device for those looking for a smartphone on the cheap.
