The Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge has been released on January 12, 2022. It launched alongside the flagship Xiaomi 11i which is arguably the best phone yet by the brand. However, the HyperCharge variant has a few smart tricks up its sleeves even though both devices are virtually the same. So, what’s so hyper about the 11i HyperCharge? Let's find out.

Design and Build Quality

The Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge shares the same DNA and builds as the Xiaomi 11i. As a result, much of this review will be a reflection on the Xiaomi 11i and what’s different from it. The design features a standard glass front and back combination. The front and black glass are complemented by a stainless-steel frame. The frame along with the glass components gives the phone its premium feel and weight. The front glass features scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 5. The phone is a bit thick at 8.3 mm but the 207 gm of evenly distributed weight gives the phone a nice hand feel.

The phone features a volume rocker and a power button on the right side. There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the top with the sim card tray and stereo speaker. There is a USB Type-C port at the bottom with nothing on the left.

The flat and square edges of the phone reminisce of iPhones in every way. But the small punch hole camera on the front acts as the saving grace. Overall, the matte premium finish with nicely placed tactile keys makes this phone a true flagship from Xiaomi.

Display

Xiaomi didn’t leave anything to be desired on the screens. The phone features a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The phone comes at an FHD+ resolution with 1080 by 2400 pixels.

The display supports HDR 10 content. So all the new Netflix releases will look crisper and sharper than ever. The phone has an average brightness of 700 nits and it can peak at 1200 nits under direct sunlight.

The display is as expected from an AMOLED panel. The colors look bright and accurate with no visible distortion. The viewing angles are also excellent on this device. Moreover, Xiaomi offers a range of color calibration options for the display.

Camera

Just like the Xiaomi 11i, the HyperCharge version also has a triple camera module. However, the main camera module shone over anything in their previous flagship iterations and this one is no different. The main sensor is 108 MP f/1.9 26 mm wide. With pixel capture of 0.7 micron and dual pixel PDAF, this sensor is crazy good at capturing the details.

The other two supporting sensors are an 8 MP ultrawide shooter and a 2 MP macro lens.

The main back camera can shoot 4K at 30 fps, 1080P at either 30,60 or 120 fps, and 720P at a whooping 960 fps slo-mo. The included EIS and OIS makes video shooting a breeze without any external stabilizer.

The front camera features a 16 MP wide-angle shooter which can take pretty detailed selfies.

Speaking of the camera samples, the sensors nails in outdoor conditions. Details and colors look accurate. Though the sensor has a slight tendency to over-expose the background under direct sunlight.

The phone also does well in artificial and low light. The dedicated night mode does a great job of capturing great details in a dimly lit environment.

 Overall, the sharpness and details are commendable. It's nothing to rival the likes of Pixel 6 Pro or iPhone 13 Pro, but it’s the best in its price range.

Processor and Performance

The phone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G. The chipset is built on the super power-efficient 6 nm structure. The octa-core processor features 2 2.5 GHz Cortex-A78 and 6 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 chips for top-of-the-line performance. The processor is complemented by the Mali-G68 M4 GPU. The processor and the GPU do an excellent job of handling whatever is thrown at it. Whether it’s high intensive 3D games or light social media scrolls, this phone is optimized to handle everything with ease. Now there might be questions about the battery life graphics-intensive usage. But the latter point will discuss how revolutionary this device is when it comes to charge and charge cycles.

The phone comes in either 6 or 8 GB RAM coupled with 128 or 256 GB ROM. The Os is the same MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11. When MIUI first launched, there were a lot of complaints about its bloatware and bugs. Not to mention how it significantly slows down the device over time. However,  Xiaomi came a long way from that. MIUI has become far better-wise, adding new and innovative features to make the user experience more unique. It will still feel like an iOS rip-off for the new user. But given how MIUI is now, that is not necessarily a bad thing at all.

Battery and Charge Time

Now let us talk about the all-important battery. The name HyperCharge already makes things obvious that there’s something unique about the battery here. From the outside, it might seem like a downgrade considering the HyperCharge variant has a 4500 mAh battery. A good 600 mAh short compared to the Xiaomi 11i.

But this phone has a staggering 120W fast charging. Yes, let that sink in for a moment. While 65W fast charging is becoming a common scene, this is a power jump like no other. Xiaomi advertises that the battery will go from 0 to 100% in just 15 minutes! This completely changes the outlook on how a device is charged and used. Now charging isn’t a time-consuming, hassle-worth task anymore. It's just plug-in, get ready, and the device is already topped for the day.

Price of Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge in Bangladesh

Xiaomi has not launched the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge in Bangladesh yet. However, going by the Chinese market, the official price at launch should be around 32,000 BDT for the 6/128 GB variant.

Verdict

To sum things up, the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge is a great phone with some pretty cool features. Xiaomi has already delivered aggressive specs for the price and this one is no different. Be it the build quality, camera, or processor, the HyperCharge shines in every way. And if that wasn’t enough, the 120W fast charging will forever spoil anyone with its ridiculous speed. So is this phone a great buy at this price? If MIUI doesn’t bother the buyer, buying this phone should be an instant decision.
