POCO F5 Pro 5G

In the fast-paced world of smartphones, Xiaomi has emerged as a prominent player, consistently pushing boundaries with its innovative and feature-packed devices. In August 2018, Xiaomi launched its sub-brand Poco with an aim to provide advanced phones to budget-conscious consumers. One such series that has captured the attention of tech enthusiasts is the Xiaomi Poco F Phone series. This lineup offers exceptional performance, cutting-edge features, and affordability, catering to the demands of a wide range of users. Poco has recently announced the launch of F5 Pro. This phone debuts in China in May this year. Let’s see what features you can expect from Poco F5 Pro.

Key Specs of Poco F5 Pro 5G

Design & Display

The Poco F5 Pro comes with a stylish and sleek design with a glass back panel. The curved edges make the phone more comfortable to hold. Despite its 6.41 x 2.97 x 0.34 (inches) dimension, the phone remains lightweight, weighing in at just 204g. The front has a stunning 6.67-inches flat display with ultra-thin bezels, resulting in a truly attractive aesthetic feature.

While the design is impressive, its durability is not the absolute best available. However, the display has Gorilla Glass 5 protection. But it only offers IP53 certification for dust and water protection. The good thing is the display features an AMOLED panel with a remarkable resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels.

With a maximum 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1400 nits, the display ensures a visually stunning experience. Even under bright conditions outdoors, the Pro HDR support enhances the clarity and beauty of the content, making it appear vivid.

Further, if you are a gamer, you will love to hear that Poco F5 Pro has a 480Hz touch sampling rate making it a more responsive phone compared to other phones in this price range.

The phone comes in black and white colors. The white color features hiding fingerprint marks left on the smooth glass back panel.

Camera

The F5 Pro features triple-lens camera setups, which is identical to Poco F5. These setups contain a 64 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro camera. Additionally, it is equipped with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for capturing stunning selfies.

Furthermore, for those who desire the highest resolution possible, the camera settings allow you to capture full 64-megapixel shots by diving into the settings. So, it seems the 64 MP camera on F5 Pro can take HDR-like photos while offering vibrant and deep colors.

While lacking a dedicated telephoto camera, the Poco F5 Pro 5G compensates with a digital 2x zoom feature that delivers remarkably sharp images. Instead of relying solely on zooming in on the image, the phone intelligently crops in on the main camera sensor, resulting in impressive clarity and detail. However, the ultrawide camera may not give you the perfect color accuracy and sharpness. But, as per the initial users, the 2MP macro camera offers good-looking sharp images.

The Poco F5 Pro’s front-facing camera comes with a 16MP resolution, and its performance speaks for itself. It captures sharp images with admirable color accuracy. However, one minor inconvenience is the default face-smoothing effect that activates upon opening the camera. But you can disable this feature easily to get a more natural look.

The F5 Pro offers the ability to record videos in 8K resolution, whereas the F5 is limited to 4K resolution. While 8K recording may come out a bit shaky, recording videos in 4K resolution at 30 fps resulted in impressively smooth footage. Further, the phone is equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS), ensuring stable footage even if your hands are prone to shaking.

Performance

Although the Poco F5 Pro may not feature the latest flagship processor from Qualcomm, it is equipped with arguably the next best option—the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Experience optimal performance with ample storage options of 256GB with 8GB RAM, 256GB with 12GB RAM, or 512GB with 12GB RAM. When it comes to gaming performance, the Poco F5 Pro 5G goes beyond its powerful processor and the12GB of RAM.

It incorporates Poco’s advanced LiquidCool Technology 2.0, which enhances heat dissipation during intensive gaming sessions. This technology incorporates 5000mm2 stainless steel vapor chambers and graphite layers, effectively improving heat conductivity and maintaining optimal temperatures. With this innovative cooling system, the Poco F5 Pro ensures that you can enjoy extended gaming sessions without worrying about overheating issues impacting performance.

Software

Xiaomi includes its own set of default applications in Poco phones, such as a browser, gallery, video player, security app, and others. Alongside these, the devices also come bundled with an odd assortment of third-party apps and games.

Poco F5 Pro runs on Xiaomi’s MIUI 14 interface like other Xiaomi phones. Hence F5 Pro’s interface is layered on top of Android 13. If you are familiar with both iOS and Android, you can consider MIUI as a blend of the two operating systems. MIUI offers a control panel inspired by iOS, while notifications are displayed similarly to other Android phones.

Battery

Poco claims that the F5 Pro boasts impressive power efficiency with its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. With a 30% decrease in CPU and GPU power consumption and a 20% increase in AI power efficiency, the device optimizes energy usage effectively.

When combined with its large 5160mAh battery, the phone may easily last for approximately a day and a half on a single charge, even with activities such as gaming, web browsing, and content consumption. You can charge the battery with a 67W wired fast charging cable, which gives 50% charge in 15 min.

Final Words

The specs of Poco F5 Pro 5G are aligned with the upper mid-range phones making it capable for everyday uses. Not only does it offer impressive performance, but the device also delivers long-lasting battery life, a remarkable main camera, and exceptionally fast charging capabilities. All of these features combined make the Xiaomi Poco F5 Pro 5G an excellent deal for users seeking a powerful and versatile smartphone.
