At least 10 militants have been confirmed dead and 16 others wounded as government forces launched cleanup operations in Charkh district of the eastern Logar province on Saturday, said a statement of provincial police released here Sunday.
During the operation a main base of the Taliban was also destroyed, the statement added.
The operation backed by fighting planes would continue unless the area is cleared of the insurgents, the statement further said.
Taliban militants who are active in parts of Logar province with Pul-e-Alam as its capital 65 km south of Kabul have yet to make comment.
