At least 20 people were killed and several others sustained injuries on Friday evening after a diesel tanker overturned southwest of Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic.
According to witnesses, the accident occurred when the speeding truck lost control and overturned. The vehicle struck several pedestrians during the incident, causing extensive damage to the surrounding area.
While officials have not yet confirmed the final number of fatalities, the provisional death toll stands at 20. Those injured in the crash were rushed to various hospitals in Bangui for emergency treatment.
