Oman's Royal Navy rescued 25 crew members from a commercial vessel after it came under attack and caught fire off the country's northern coast, the Maritime Security Center said Friday.
The vessel was attacked about 1.6 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam, northern Oman, triggering a fire, the center said in a statement.
The Royal Navy conducted the evacuation in coordination with the Maritime Security Center, which said the rescued crew members were provided with necessary medical treatment.
The center, however, did not disclose further details about the incident, including the nature of the attack or those responsible.
Earlier, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported on Thursday that a vessel travelling outbound through the Strait of Hormuz had caught fire about 25 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, the provincial capital of Musandam.
