Shah Rukh Khan, the celebrated star of the 1993 cult classic Baazigar, is reportedly in discussions to headline the much-anticipated sequel to the romantic thriller.

The news has sparked excitement among fans of the original film, which remains a significant milestone in Bollywood history.

Producer Ratan Jain recently hinted at the possibility of Baazigar 2 in an interview with ETimes.

While discussions with Shah Rukh Khan are ongoing, Jain emphasised that the project will only move forward if the superstar agrees to reprise his iconic role.

Jain revealed that an intriguing concept for the sequel has already been developed. However, he stressed the importance of a compelling script and fresh direction to ensure the sequel lives up to the legacy of the original. “We keep talking to Shah Rukh about Baazigar 2, but not much has happened yet. It will definitely be made,” he said.

The script, still in its nascent stages, is yet to be finalised. Jain underlined his commitment to maintaining the high standards set by the original, which was lauded for its gripping storyline, stellar performances, and memorable soundtrack.

Released on November 12, 1993, Baazigar catapulted Shah Rukh Khan to stardom, showcasing his versatility in a morally ambiguous role. Directed by Abbas-Mustan, the film also starred Kajol, Shilpa Shetty, Rakhee, Siddharth Ray, Dalip Tahil, and Johny Lever.
