Tianjin Light Industry Vocational Technical College delivers top-tier education, producing graduates renowned for their virtue, skills, and abilities.

Their excellence has garnered widespread praise from employers, contributing to an impressive employment rate exceeding 95%.

As part of the “China Up Close: Tianjin Tour,” journalists from various countries recently visited the institution.

The visit was co-hosted by China Global Television Network (CGTN) and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government.

Tianjin Light Industry Vocational Technical College, with approximately 11,000 students and over 500 staff, is recognised as a key vocational institution in China, its President Li Yunmei told journalists.

The college offers specialised programmes in mould design and manufacturing, photovoltaic power generation technology and application, and e-commerce.

President Li highlighted the college’s commitment to fostering student capabilities, noting that it provides ample space for students to demonstrate their skills.

In addition, the college has established over 100 international cooperation projects across various countries.

Tianjin's strong industrial base, characterised by the "1+3+4" modern industrial system, underpins the college’s development.

The city’s industries, including equipment manufacturing, new energy, and artificial intelligence, provide solid support for vocational education initiatives.

Li emphasised that most vocational training programmes are developed through collaborations between educational institutions and enterprises, promoting shared resources, talent, and outcomes.

As a national pilot zone for vocational education reform, Tianjin has launched several initiatives, including the “Double High-level Colleges” development programme and the “Entrepreneurship and Integration” programme.

The city also supports numerous international exchange projects, backed by dedicated funding, creating favourable conditions for the advancement of high-quality vocational education.

Currently, the equipment manufacturing sector in Tianjin demonstrates the greatest demand for skilled talent, particularly in mechanical design, electrical automation, mechatronics, and sales and control, reflecting the city’s industrial focus.

Looking to the future, President Li expressed the college’s vision of both “bringing in” and “going out”.

She highlighted the importance of aligning with international standards and sharing resources through collaborations.

The Luban Workshop platform serves as a key avenue for deeper international exchange involving students, teachers, and industry development.

Li said that the college aims to utilise the Luban Workshop and international exchange programmes as bridges for cultural exchange and increased connectivity.

The institution also welcomes international students to study in China and hopes that more Chinese enterprises will establish overseas factories, helping to develop enterprise-ready talent in local countries.

Mohsin, a student from Pakistan studying at the college, said, "Since I am new here, my main focus is on developing practical skills such as the basics of automation and the Chinese language, as these are key components for a better future."

Regarding the facilities available for students, Mohsin stated, "We enjoy many advantages here. If anyone is willing to study in the vocational field, I highly recommend this college because it offers an international level of education."

He also added that the college provides scholarships for international students.
