Deep depression over Bay intensified into cyclonic storm ‘Mandous’
The deep depression over Southwest Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay moved west-northwestwards and intensified into cyclonic storm ‘Mandous’ over Southwest Bay and adjoining area.
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal no two, said a special weather bulletin.
The cyclonic storm was centred at 06 AM today about 1650 Km Southwest of Chattogram port, 1590- km Southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 1565 km Southwest of Mongla port and 1550 km Southwest of Payra port. It is likely to move in a West-Northwesterly direction.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution. They were also advised not to venture in the deep sea.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the cyclone centre is about 62 kph rising to 88kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain very rough near the eye of the cyclone.
However, according to latest bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) the wind speed at Dhaka is 8-12 kph directed North/North-easterly and the weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky over the country.

Deep depression over Bay likely to weaken gradually
People in the port areas can heave a sigh of relief as the deep depression over the north Andaman Sea and the adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal is unlikely to intensify into a cyclone.
The deep depression has moved in the north-northeasterly direction and is likely to weaken gradually, according to the weather department.
At 6am on Tuesday, it lay centred about 835 kms south of Chattogram port, 750 kms south of Cox's Bazar port, 960 kms south-southeast of Mongla port and 880 kms south-southeast of Payra port, the Met office said in a special weather bulletin.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of the deep depression centre is about 50 kmph rising to 60 kmph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre.
Meanwhile, maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal number one.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the north Bay of Bengal and the deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution.
They are also advised not to venture into the deep waters.
Meanwhile, the trough of westerly low lies over the sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas, the Met office said in a forecast.
Rain, thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet & Chattogram divisions, said the weather office.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
