Cyclone Mocha: 10,000 houses damaged in Cox's Bazar, inc 1200 in St Martin
At least 10,000 houses were damaged in Cox's Bazar, with 1,200 of them being on vulnerable St Martin's Island off the coast of Teknaf.
Despite the widespread damage, there were no reports of casualties as of filing this report.
Cox's Bazar city, Sadar upazila, Maheshkhali upazila, Kutubdia upazila, and Ramu upazila were all hit by the cyclone, and locals are fearful of the potential for massive losses being uncovered as people return to their daily lives at home.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shaheen Imran has confirmed that the cyclone's fury has ceased and that the 2.5 lakh people in shelters will be able to return home pending the authorities' green light.
“However, the extent of the damage is still being assessed and will be reported later,” the DC said.
The cyclone caused extensive damage in Teknaf and St. Martin, with a lot of trees falling in isolated areas of St. Martin, Teknaf Sadar and Municipal areas, Sabrang, Dailpara, and Jadimura.

People have been seen removing trees from roads in different areas.
According to Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kamruzzaman, there are reports of extensive damage in Teknaf and Saint Martin, with trees being uprooted and houses being destroyed in some areas.
Chairman of St Martin union parishad, Mujibur Rahman, said that although the wind speed has decreased in St Martin since evening, many houses have been blown away, and some people have been injured.
More accurate, precise measures of the damage done by Mocha will have to wait till tomorrow, most probably.

Over 200 houses damaged as nor’wester lashes Kurigram
More than 200 houses of five unions in Bhuruingamari upazila of Kurigram district have been damaged as a nor’wester hit the upazila early Wednesday.
The storm uprooted trees and damaged standing Boro crops.
Locals said the hour-long nor’wester coupled with thundershower lashed Bhuruingamari sadar, Paikerchhara, Char Bhuruingamari, Shilkhuri, and Bongosonahat around 4am.
Electricity supply remained snapped since the storm hit the areas as electric poles were damaged by the nor’wester.
Abu Shahadat Md Bazlur Rahman, a member of Paikerchhara union parishad, said, “Around 20-25 houses and many trees of my ward were uprooted by the nor’wester. Boro crop lands were also inundated in the area. I along with the villagers have been working to repair the houses.”

Paikerchhara union parishad chairman Abdur Razzak Sarkar said around 100 houses of his union have been damaged and Boro crops on 150-200 bighas of land have been inundated.
ATM Fazlul Haque, former chairman of Char Bhuruingamari union, said two of his homesteads were damaged as the storm hit his house.
Besides, around 50 houses and many trees were damaged at Char Bhuruingamari union, he added.

Nor’wester lashes B’baria: 300 houses damaged
At least 300 establishments including houses were damaged as a nor’wester accompanied by hailstorm and gusty winds swept through the three upazilas of Brahmanbaria district Monday.
The storm started around 3:20 am and lasted for ten minutes.
The storm damaged 300 houses, electric poles were damaged while a number of trees were uprooted in Sarail, Nasirnagar and Bijoynagar upazilas of the district.
Besides, 40 people were injured during the storm in Nasirnagar upazila. Of them, one was undergoing treatment at Sadar hospital, said Nasirnagar Upazila officer, Avhijit Roy.

A portion of the East Balikhola Primary School building collapsed during the storm, forcing the authorities concerned to shut down the school for an indefinite period.
