A policeman was killed as a truck hit a motorcycle near Daulatpur of Khulna city on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Musabbir Hossain, 38, a bodyguard of Assistant Commissioner of Police of Khalishpur Zone Khulna. The accident occurred around 10 am when the truck rammed Musabbir’s motorcycle near Minakhsi cinema hall in Daulatpur, said Khulna Traffic Department Assistant Town Sub-Inspectors (ATSI) GM Khalidur Rahman. Police seized the killer truck and the helper but the driver managed to flee, said Kazi Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Daulatpur police station. A case will be filed in this regard, the OC added.

A police constable was killed in a motorcycle accident at Jatrabari’s Golapbagh in the capital on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Md Sohag, 33, the bodyguard of the Jatrabari police assistant commissioner (Petrol). The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, he added. 

A 38-year-old cop died while another person riding pillion on his bike was injured after being hit by a speeding bus in Rupsha upazila of Khulna district on Monday night, police said. The deceased was identified as Nasim Uddin, an assistant sub-inspector at Khulna city special branch and son of Abdul Wadud Mollah of Birat Kalbunia village in Khulna. The accident occurred around 7.45 pm on the Khulna-Mongla highway in the Ilaipur Mor area of the upazila. Locals rushed them to Khulna Medical College and Hospital and later Nasim was transferred to Khulna City Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The injured, Shafiqul Islam, is now undergoing treatment at the hospital. On information, police rushed to the spot and took the motorcycle into custody. Though the bus has been seized, its driver and his assistant managed to flee, the OC said.
