9 killed as cab falls into gorge in Kashmir
As many as nine people were killed when their cab veered off a mountainous road and rolled down a deep gorge in Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said on Thursday.
The accident occurred at Zojila Pass on the busy Srinagar-Leh National Highway in the federal government-controlled territory. The pass is 3,400 metres above the sea level.
"The cab was travelling to Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar with the victims -- eight passengers and the driver -- when the tragedy occurred late on Wednesday night," a police officer told the local media.

While five people died on the spot in the impact, four others, including the driver and an Armyman, succumbed to their injuries later on Thursday, the officer said.
"A probe has been ordered into the accident," he added.
Road accidents are very common in India, with one taking place every four minutes. These accidents are often blamed on poor roads, rash driving and scant regard for traffic laws.

2 REB staffers killed in Jamalpur train accident
Two employees of the Rural Electrification Board (BREB) were killed in a train accident at Jamalpur’s Sarishabari upazila as their motorbike was hit by a train heading to Bangabandhu Bridge East Railway Station on Monday.
Deceased Ali Hasan, 35, was a BREB Meter Testing Supervisor of Sarishabari zone, originally from Monakosha Hat Pachil village under Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj district, and Sultan Mia, 33, was a BREB electrician and resident of Sarishabari.
According to the police, while crossing the railway line in Satpoya Jamtali area of the upazila, the duo on a motorbike was hit by the Dhaleshwari Express train.
Locals rushed them to Sarishabari Upazila Health Complex, the on-duty doctor declared them dead.

AGM of BREM Sarishabari zonal office Nurul Huda said that the accident occurred while they were going on a field visit.
SI Mujibul Haque, in-charge of Sarishabari railway police outpost, said two people were killed in the accident but no complaint has yet been received from the families of the victims.
However, an unnatural death case would be filed in this regard, he added.
