Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has conveyed his sincere appreciation for Bangladesh's solidarity with the UAE following the Iranian attacks on the country. In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, he expressed gratitude for Bangladesh's support during this difficult time. The UAE President also extended his heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of two Bangladeshi nationals residing in the UAE who were among the victims of the attacks, said the UAE Embassy in Dhaka on Thursday. He expressed his deepest sympathies to their families and the people of Bangladesh. The letter reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to further strengthening its longstanding partnership with Bangladesh, with particular emphasis on expanding cooperation in the economic, developmental, and humanitarian sectors. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also expressed his keen interest in undertaking an official visit to Bangladesh at the earliest opportunity. He warmly acknowledged the Prime Minister's gracious invitation to visit Bangladesh and conveyed his hope to further deepen the enduring partnership between the two friendly nations. The United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh enjoy strong and multifaceted bilateral relations founded on mutual respect, close friendship, and a shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday congratulated Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his assumption of the office of the President of the United Arab Emirates. “Your election to this position manifests the strong confidence and deep trust that the UAE's Federal Supreme Council and the people of the UAE have reposed in your able leadership and profound wisdom,” she said. Also read: Momen leaves for UAE to join 3-day mourning She mentioned that Bangladesh and the UAE have developed a time-tested friendship enjoying excellent bilateral collaboration in various areas of mutual interests since the attainment of both of our statehood in 1971. She recalled with deep appreciation in her letter the historic recognition of Bangladesh as an independent sovereign state by the UAE as the first Gulf country on 10 March 1974, which paved the way for achieving our recognition from the brotherly Arab countries, thus laying the foundation for the bilateral partnerships with the region. Also read: PM expresses shock at the demise of UAE president She mentioned the rock-solid bilateral relations have reached today the high watermark of mutual collaboration with remarkable progress in many areas, including cooperation in human resources, business, trade, commerce, investment, culture, education, and defence sectors. She expressed her firm believe that the existing engagements and partnerships between our two countries will be further consolidated and cemented for the welfare of our two peoples through our shared efforts. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday conveyed profound shock and grief to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces on the passing away of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. “The Government and People of Bangladesh join me in conveying our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to Your Highness and through you to the bereaved members of the Royal family and the Emirati brethren at this critical moment of grief and sorrow,” she said in a message of condolence. She reiterated that Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was a great statesman, a great ruler of Abu Dhabi, and a visionary leader of the Muslim Ummah. “His dynamic leadership, sagacity, and dedication to the national development of the United Arab Emirates and the advancement of the Islamic cause are some cases in points that will keep him a memorable personality in history.” She said. READ: ADB reaffims commitment to Bangladesh's sustainable development  Hasina said that Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was also a great friend and well-wisher of Bangladesh and was particularly a guardian of the Bangladeshi community living in the UAE. She conveyed highest tribute on behalf of the people of Bangladesh to the departed soul. “We join hands in prayer for his eternal peace that Almighty Allah will grant him the highest place in Jannah. We also pray to Allah for bestowing courage and fortitude to the members of the bereaved Royal Family and the brotherly people of the United Arab Emirates to bear this irreparable loss.” READ: UAE's long-ailing leader Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed dies at 73 The prime minister also wrote another condolence letter addressed to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai. In her letter she wrote that she, on behalf of the People and Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, and on her own behalf, conveyed deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies at the passing away of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan was a dynamic and visionary statesman of the UAE. He dedicated his whole life to the cause of the socio-economic transformation of the UAE, making it a prosperous and forward-looking nation, she said.
