Asia Cup Hockey: Bangladesh take on mighty Pakistan on Wednesday
Bangladesh will play former World Cup, Olympics and Asia Cup champions Pakistan in the 5th place deciding classification match of the Asia Cup Hockey '2022 on Wednesday (June 1).
The match will kick-off at 12:30 pm Bangladesh time at the GBK Hockey Field in the Indonesian capital Jakarta.

In the last meeting, four times World champions, three times Olympics and Asia Cup champions Pakistan outplayed Bangladesh by 6-2 goals in the Asian Champions Trophy in Dhaka last year.
Bangladesh never won any match against Pakistan since their first meeting in 1982.
Pakistan beat Bangladesh 9-0 in 1982, 1-0 in the Asia Cup in Dhaka in 1985, 6-0 in 1999, 8-0 in 2003, 10-0 in 2007, 7-0 in 2017 and 6-2 in Dhaka in 2021.
Bangladesh, which achieved their ever-best world ranking of 27 in the Men's Field Hockey, published by FIH very recently, entered the dream battle of 5th place after beating hosts Indonesia by 4-2 goals in another classification match last Sunday.
This was the 4th consecutive win for Bangladesh against Indonesia within last two months.
Bangladesh beat Indonesia 7-2 in the AHF Cup Hockey in Jakarta last March, again defeated Indonesia 3-1 in the Asian Games Hockey Qualifier in Bangkok early this month and beat Indonesia last by 2-1 goals in a preparatory match ahead of the ongoing Hero Men's Asia Cup Hockey' 2022.

Earlier, Bangladesh finished 3rd in the four-team Pool B of the ongoing Asia Cup Hockey securing three points from three matches after beating their traditional rivals Oman by 2-1 goals.
Pakistan, which finished 3rd in the four-team Pool A of the Asia Cup, entered the 5th place battle beating Pool B bottom team Oman by 5-2 goals at the same venue last Saturday.

Asia Cup Hockey: Bangladesh beat Indonesia 4-2, play Pakistan on Wednesday
Bangladesh beat hosts Indonesia by 4-2 goals in a classification match to secure the 6th place in the eight-nation Hero Men's Asia Cup Hockey' 2022 at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta Sunday afternoon.
This was the 4th consecutive win for Bangladesh against Indonesia in last two months.

Bangladesh beat Indonesia 7-2 in the AHF Cup Hockey in Jakarta last March, again defeated Indonesia 3-1 in the Asian Games Hockey Qualifier in Bangkok early this month and beat Indonesia last by 2-1 goals in a preparatory match ahead of the ongoing Hero Men's Asia Cup Hockey' 2022.
Bangladesh will now battle for the dream 5th place against their sub-continental world giant and three times Asia Cup champions Pakistan in a place deciding classification match on Wednesday (June 1) at 12:30 pm Bangladesh time.
In the day' s match, forward Rashel Mahmud Jimmy, Ashraful Islam, Deen Mohammad Emon and Pushkar Khisa Mimo scored for Bangladesh while Al Akbar Abdullah and Ardam scored one each for the hosts Indonesia.
Rashel put Bangladesh ahead in the 13th minute by a brilliant hit to open box after beating opponent custodian, from a counter attack (1-0).
Al Akbar levelled the margin scoring the first goal for Indonesia in the ongoing Asia Cup Hockey by a cool hit from a goalmouth melee in the 20th minute (1-1).
Just few seconds later, Ashraful scored the 2nd goal for Bangladesh from a penalty corner (2-1).
Deen Mohammad further widened the Bangladesh margin scoring a field goal in the 24th minute by a good deflection (3-1).
Ardam made the match exciting scoring the 2nd goal for Indonesia in 36th minute, also from a penalty corner (3-2).
Pushkar sealed the fate of the match scoring a field goal for Bangladesh from a close range, just one minute before the final whistle (4-2).

Earlier, Bangladesh finished 3rd in the four-team Pool B of the tournament securing three points from three matches after beating their traditional rivals Oman by 2-1 goals.
Pakistan, which finished 3rd in the four-team Pool A of the Asia Cup, entered the fight for the 5th place beating Pool B bottom team Oman by 5-2 at the same venue last Saturday.

Bangladesh will play hosts Indonesia, the 4th ranked team of Pool A in the 5th/8th place classification match of the eight-nation Hero Men's Asia Cup Hockey' 2022 on Sunday (May 29).
The match will kick-off at 12 noon( Bangladesh time) at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta.
Earlier, Bangladesh finished 3rd in the four-team Pool B of the ongoing Asia Cup Hockey securing three points from three matches after beating their traditional rivals Oman by 2-1 goal.

Bangladesh needed just a win against lowly rated Indonesia on Sunday to assure the 6th place in the Men's Asia Cup Hockey.
If Bangladesh cab beat Indonesia, then they have another chance to fight for the 5th spot of the Asia Cup with three times champions Pakistan in a 5!th place deciding match on Wednesday (June 1).
Pakistan, which finished the 3rd in the four-team Pool A of the Asia Cup, entered the 5th place battle beating bottom team of Pool B Oman by 5-2 goal at the same venue today (Saturday).

Asia Cup Hockey: Bangladesh concede 1-8 goal defeat against Malaysia
Bangladesh conceded 1-8 goal defeat against last time runners-up Malaysia in their 3rd and last Pool B match of the eight-nation Hero Men's Asia Cup Hockey' 2022 at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta Thursday afternoon.
With the day's comfortable victory, Malaysia emerged Pool B champions with all-win record securing full nine points from all the group outings.
They dominated the first half by 4-1 goal.
In the another Pool B match, South Korea finished group runners up with six points outplaying all losers Oman by 5-1 goal in their last group match Thursday morning.

Despite the day's defeat, Bangladesh finished 3rd in Pool B securing three points from three matches and will play hosts Indonesia, the 4th ranked team of Pool A, on Sunday (May 29) in the 5th/8th place classification match.
Ahead of the Hero Men's Asia Cup Hockey' 2022, Bangladesh beat hosts Indonesia 2-1 in a preparatory matches in Jakarta.
Bangladesh also beat Indonesia by 7-2 goal in the AHF Cup Hockey in last March in Jakarta and defeated Indonesia again by 3-1 goal In the Asian Games Hockey Qualifier in Bangkok on May 7 last.
In the day's match, defender cum penalty corner specialist Razie Rahim and midfielder Faizal Saari scored hattricks for Malaysia, scoring three goals each.
Later, Faizal Saari was adjudged the Hero man of the match.
Apart from day's hattrick makers, Aznal Nazmi and Ashran Hamsani scored the remaining goals for Malaysia.
Earlier in the very first minute of the day's match, Bangladesh custodian Biplob Kujur came to the limelight foiling a penalty stroke, taken by Razie Rahim.
Ashrsful Islam, who scored the first goal against Oman in the last match, scored the consolation goal for Bangladesh in the 21st minute (2nd quarter) from a penalty corner.

Bangladesh to play stronger Malaysia in their 3rd and last Pool B match of the eight-nation Hero Men's Asia Cup Hockey' 2022 at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta on Thursday.
The match will kick-off at 2 pm (local time) and 1 pm (Bangladesh time).

In Thursday's other matches, South Korea will meet Oman at 11:45 am (Pool B), Pakistan will face Japan at 4:15 pm (Pool A) while holder India will play hosts Indonesia at 6:30 pm (Pool A), all are local time.
Ahead of the big match against Malaysia, Bangladesh team made their practices in Jakarta Wednesday morning.
Bangladesh team, which was placed in four-team Pool B with Malaysia, South Korea and Oman, already assured the 3rd slot in the group with three points from two matches after beating their traditional rivals Oman by 2-1 goals last Tuesday.
On completion of two Pool B matches, Malaysia dominated the group with all-win record securing full six points, four times champions South Korea is in the 2nd position with three points while Oman remained at bottom without any point.
Pool A team comprises India, Japan, Pakistan and hosts Indonesia.

Earlier in the remaining group matches, Malaysia outplayed Oman by 7-0 goals, Japan crushed hosts Indonesia 9-0, holders India played 1-1 with arch-rivals Pakistan, Pakistan crushed Indonesia 13-0, Malaysia beat Korea 5-4 while Japan shocked India by 5-2 goal.
South Korea clinched the Asia Cup title for a record four times while India and Pakistan followed them neck and neck by winning the title for three occasions each..
Ahead of the Hero Men's Asia Cup Hockey' 2022, Bangladesh played two preparatory matches in Jakarta.

Bangladesh made a winning return to the eight-nation Hero Asia Cup Hockey 2022, beating Oman by 2-1 goals in their second Pool B match at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta on Tuesday.
With the day's feat, Bangladesh not only maintained their third slot in Group B intact ahead of Oman, but also took revenge of their 2-6 defeat against the Gulf country in the final of the Asian Games Hockey qualifiers in Bangkok last week.
But, Bangladesh made a frustrating start in the ongoing Asia Cup Hockey, suffering 1-6 goals' defeat against former champions South Korea in their first match with captain Khorshedur Rahman scoring the lone goal for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh made a frustrating start in the eight-nation 11th Asia Cup Hockey '2022 after suffering 1-6 goal defeat against former champions South Korea in their first match at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta on Monday.
In the match, captain Khurshedur Rahman put Bangladesh team ahead in the 6th minute from a penalty corner astonishing the four times champions South Korea (1-0).
After conceding an early goal, Korean players reorganized themselves to create strong pressure over Bangladesh and scored six goals in a row.
South Korea, which took 3-1 lead in the first half (2nd quarter), scored two more goals in the 3rd quarter (5-1) and confirmed their comfortable victory adding one more goal in the 4th and last quarter (6-1).

In the opening match, Malaysia outplayed Oman by 7-0 goal Monday morning in another Pool B match at the same venue.

The 11th edition of the eight-nation Asia Cup Hockey '2022 begins on Monday at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta.
Top five teams of the last Asia Cup--holders India, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Korea--,hosts Indonesia and last AHF Cup champions Bangladesh and runners- up Oman have qualified for the tournament.

Bangladesh team was placed in four-team Pool B with Malaysia, South Korea and Oman while Pool A team comprises India Japan, Pakistan and hosts Indonesia.
Four matches will be held on the opening day (Monday).
Malaysia will face Oman in the inaugural match at 10:45 am (Bangladesh time) while Bangladesh will face former champions South Korea at 1:pm (BST) in the Pool B matches.
In Pool A matches, Japan will meet hosts Indonesia at 3:15 pm (BST) while India will play their arch- rivals Pakistan at 5:30 pm (BST) in the other opening day's fixture.
