Rains or thundershowers likely to drench Dhaka, 18 other districts
Dhaka and eighteen other districts of the country may see rains or thundershowers in 34 hours from 9am on Wednesday, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has said.
According to the Met office, “Rains or thundershowers accompanied by temporary west or northwesterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 KPH is likely over the regions of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Myemnsingh, Faridpur, Dhaka, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet.”
The river ports have been asked to hoist cautionary signal No 1.

The inland river ports warning will remain valid till 6 pm on Wednesday.

Low Pressure: Light to moderate rain likely to drench Bangladesh
More rains are likely to drench Bangladesh in 24 hours commencing 9 am on Sunday as a low pressure area has formed over the North Bay and adjoining central Bay, said the weather department.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes is likely at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” said a Met Office bulletin.
Rainfall activity may continue in next three days.
Day temperature may fall by 1-3°C and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, it added.
Dhaka recorded 9mm rainfall on Sunday morning.

The weather office recorded the highest 50 mm rainfall in Sreemangal of Sylhet division in 24 hours till 6am on Sunday.
The mercury reached 36.5 degrees Celsius – the highest – in Tarash of Rajshahi and in Sayedpur of Rangpur, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 21.0 degrees in Kumarkhali of Khulna division.
Meanwhile, the axis of monsoon trough runs through East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay, as per the bulletin.

The weather department has predicted showers ranging from light to moderate across the country in 24 hours commencing 9am on Sunday.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” the Met office has said.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
A low pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay off Odisha West Bengal coast.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, centre of the low to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh & moderate elsewhere over North Bay.

Rain to drench Bangladesh in 24 hours
Showers are likely to drench all the eight divisions of Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, the Met office said on Friday.
“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions,” Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in a weather bulletin.
A mild heat wave currently sweeping through the districts of Pabna, Chuadanga, Khulna, Patuakahli and Bagerhat may abate from some places. However, day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

As per the BMD forecast, showers may intensify in the next 72 hours.
The maximum rainfall was recorded in Rangamati district at 54 mm, while the maximum temperature was recorded at 37.2 degrees in Mongla district.
