The weather department has predicted showers across Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, with monsoon being fairly active over the country and moderate to strong elsewhere over the North Bay. “Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” the department said in its bulletin on Thursday morning. The weather office recorded the highest rainfall at 109mm in Cox’s Bazar in 24 hours till 6am on Thursday. The highest temperature was recorded at 35.2 degrees Celsius in Ishwardi of Rajshahi division, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 25 degrees in Sitakunda of Chattogram division. The monsoon trough runs through Panjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to Assam across central parts of Bangladesh, as per the bulletin. One of its associated troughs extends up to the Northeast Bay, it added.

The highest temperature was recorded at 33 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 24 degree Celcius in Sitakunda. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.  One of its associated troughs extends upto Northwest Bay, as per the bulletin.

The mercury reached 36 degrees Celsius – the highest – in Rajshahi, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 25 degrees in Sylhet. Monsoon showers at many places across the country in 24 hours commencing 9 am on Tuesday may give respite from scorching heat and humid weather. “Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka & Chattogram divisions,” said a  Met Office bulletin. “Moderately heavy to heavy falls are likely to occur at one or two places over Khulna & Barishal divisions with at places over northern part of the country,” it said . A mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Khulna, Satkhira, Jashore and Chudanga and it may continue and spread, as per the forecast. Light to moderate showers are likely to drench Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, as the southwest monsoon winds have advanced up to Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. “Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions and at a few places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions," the Bangladesh Meteorology Department said on Friday. Early monsoon showers are likely to drench the eight divisions of the country in the next 24 hours, said the Met office on Saturday. “Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi & Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country, “according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). Meanwhile, a mild heat wave may continue over Rajshahi, Khulna, Bagerhat & Satkhira districts.
